Damask
I am interested in the “Fold theory” expounded by GillesDeleuze. The Fold can be used to understand the coexistence of past and present, articulating both times without separating or opposing them.
In the “Damask Painting” a geometric grid structure coexists with dissolution where the two slide together and borrow traits off each other, like a Damask tablecloth where the woven grid structure actually forms the floral pattern.
The two layers of paint (vertical and horizontal) are built up on top of each other in parallel structures. Some layers gradually become covered up.
